Following a career in Nursing I entered the Beauty Industry in 1995.
After many years as a therapist and salon owner I decided to follow my passion for education and began to lecture at a Further Education college in Surrey.
In the following six years I gained further professional skills and qualifications including writing examination questions for CIBTAC (Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology), achieving the Cert.Ed. Teaching qualification and embarking on training to become a Beauty Therapy Examiner.
I set up my first training company The National School of Threading in 2006 in response to a growing demand for experienced Threading Teachers and have since performed many demonstrations and exhibitions in London and will be giving a lecture at the World Skills Championships this year.
As one of few experts in this field I have been privileged to work alongside some high profile businesses to provide both training and consultative work including Nails Inc - trade testing, training and launching their 'Get Lashed' brand and GMTTEC Training Education Consultancy.
Since 2007 I have been working closely with the ASA (Asian Style Awards) to assist the regulation of South Asian treatments and training, in particular Threading, with a view to raising standards and protect other businesses and our consumers. I was selected to judge at their 2008 awards ceremony in London and will be writing a feature in their trade journal.
More recently I have been working with Habia - the government recognised body which sets the National Occupational Standards for hair and beauty - to develop Threading standards for a new industry qualification in Threading which will be introduced in September 2010.
I am a contributing author for the new edition of the Lorraine Nordmann Beauty Therapy text book that is due to be published in February 2010 of which I am also an Industry Role Model for Threading.
My plan for 2010 is to begin recruiting students at my new School established in September 2009 in Surrey - The Surrey school of Beauty & Complementary Health - and to expand my Threading expertise into Europe where the skill is still relatively unknown.
